Children Placed in Foster Care

Every child is an individual and special. Each child or young person have their own and very unique personalities. They also have their own role that they play within the foster home in terms of what they can bring to enrich the family. It could be their intelligence, their humour, their vulnerability etc. No two children look the same, behave in the same way, or have the same talents.

Each child or young person presents a new challenge to the most experienced carers, and every child has the capacity to grow, change and to reach their potential, and the rewards for carers of seeing young people progress, whilst in their care are immense. The challenge can be great and the impact on family life is not to be underestimated.

All our foster carers are well supported by a team of staff who will all work with you to help you face the challenges of fostering.

The local authority will provide information initially, based on what they know of the child and their background. Parents and others who know the young person may give you more details about the child's behaviour so that you are well informed before and after the child is placed in your home.

If you feel that you would like to help young people in the care system then we will be pleased to hear from you.
